Pennsylvania truck accidents: Injuries result from crash with bus

When a vehicle begins to have mechanical issues, a driver may hope to get the vehicle off the roadway as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, drivers may not be able to take preventative actions before car or truck accidents take place. Such a situation recently occurred in Pennsylvania, and several individuals were injured and transported to the hospital.

The accident reportedly involved a school bus and two tractor-trailers. The bus was attempting to travel up a hill when it began to experience engine trouble. As a result, the bus driver tried to move the bus to the right side of the road. However, a tractor-trailer that had been traveling behind the bus attempted to pass it at that time and struck the side of the bus. The truck driver then lost control and hit another truck.

There were 37 high school students on the bus, as well as a teacher and counselor, at the time of the crash. The bus driver, one of the adults and five students were transported to the hospital. Both truck drivers were also taken. It was unclear what types of injuries the individuals may have suffered in the incident. It was noted that the accident was still under investigation at the time of the report.

If serious injuries resulted from this crash—as they are apt to do in truck accidents—the injured parties may wish to explore their legal options. Personal injury claims filed against the driver considered at fault could allow them to work toward gaining compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, and other damages permitted under Pennsylvania law. Additional information on how to take such action may prove useful to interested parties.
