Medical malpractice claimed after incorrect diagnosis

Mistakes sometimes occur in the day-to-day operations of most Pennsylvania businesses without severe repercussions. When such mistakes happen at a medical center, unfortunately, their effects can have harmful effects on an individual’s health. When the health care provider negligently performs his or her job responsibilities that lead to injury or a worsening of the patient’s condition, the victim sometimes decides to bring about a medical malpractice suit.

An out-of-state couple alleged that a podiatrist’s decision to perform surgery on the woman was not only flawed, but it also lead to her further injury. The couple’s lawsuit was filed recently in early August. The suit alleges that the woman’s podiatrist and the medical center that employs him both acted negligently in that both failed to offer the woman a correct diagnosis.

The woman visited her podiatrist last year in August, complaining of foot pain, her suit alleges. Then, the podiatrist performed allegedly careless judgment when he decided to operate on her foot. Soon, she experienced a severe pain in the lower half of her body. After being rushed to a local medical center, she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in addition to a condition that arose due to the recent surgery.

When a health care provider’s negligence results in serious harm to their patient, the patient sometimes chooses to file a medical malpractice suit. If it is proved that the individual’s medical provider and/or their employer’s negligence contributed to the injury or worsening of the condition, this type of suit sometimes results in financial compensation. In Pennsylvania, victims of medical malpractice often consult an attorney who is experienced with this type of suit in order to assess their situation as well as represent them in the resultant proceedings.
